About me

Researcher, educator — and a mother first.

I work where education, data and human potential meet. My research asks how universities can support every learner; my books and my family remind me why that matters.

Academic biography

Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Yen (Trần Thị Hoàng Yến)

Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Yen holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management. Her career spans university teaching, international education, research and educational technology.

Her research focuses on AI in education, learning analytics, higher-education governance, organisational studies and sustainability — and on the practical question that connects them: how can institutions notice, early enough, the students who need support?

That question led her from research into building. She is behind VSOIS, an occupational and skills data system for Vietnam; the Học Tiếp academic affairs and advising portal used by VNU International School; and Student Performance 360, an education ERP for progress tracking and early warning.

She is also a children’s book author. Under the imprint SwiftletPub she creates patient, uncluttered workbooks and coloring books — including cursive practice designed with autistic children and children with cerebral palsy in mind.

Professional journey

From the classroom to the code.

Each step built on the last — and each one brought me closer to the students behind the data.

  1. Foundation

    Education

A Ph.D. in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management — a grounding in how organisations, and the people in them, learn and grow.

  2. In the classroom

    University teaching

  3. Across borders

    International education

Work in international programmes and partnerships, bringing global perspectives into Vietnamese higher education.

  4. Asking questions

    Research

Research on AI in education, learning analytics, higher-education governance, organisational behaviour and sustainability.

  5. Building

    EdTech innovation

Turning that research into working platforms — VSOIS, the Học Tiếp student portal and Student Performance 360.

Beyond my academic life

My children are my greatest teachers.

They remind me every day that progress is not measured by how fast we move, but by how far we have come.
